Abstract : Terrorist bombings of public buildings, attacks on public officials, hijackings and assassinations of political leaders are not new phenomena in Middle East politics.

In recent history, incidents initiated by the Palestine Liberation Organization and its various components have captured headlines around the world.

As recently as World War II, however, another terrorist war was fought over the same territory and for the same purposes--the creation of a Palestinian state. This time, though, the terrorists were Jewish.

This paper looks at the activities of the Jewish 'terror' organizations in their quest for a Jewish state.

Through three chronological, more or less parallel, tracks, the paper will deal with the formation of the military and paramilitary groups, their organization, leadership, philosophy and actions which eventually forced Great Britain to yield to Zionist demands for a Jewish state in Palestine.
