Free As A Bird
******************

1. A skeptic challenged the teacher while he was instructing a large crowd of people by saying:

"Brother, they say that because of your supreme understanding you can predict the future and know the fate of all of us."

When the teacher didn't answer, the man pushed forward insisting, If you are truly so wise, please answer for me the following question:

"Is the bird in my hand alive or dead?"

Unbeknownst to the teacher, the man held the bird in such a way that if the teacher said he was alive, which he indeed was, the man could easily squeeze the bird and kill him. And if the teacher said the bird was dead, he would simply open his hand and let the bird go.

The teacher simply replied:

"The fate of that bird, my friend, is in your hand, Just as the fate of your life is affected by your actions. Open your hand and let the bird live, and open your heart and let yourself live."

Wherever we go today
Leave heartprints!
Heartprints of compassion
Of understanding and love.

Heartprints of kindness
And genuine concern.
May our hearts touch a lonely neighbor
Or a runaway daughter
Or an anxious mother
Or perhaps an aged grandfather.

Go out today
To leave heartprints.
And if someone should say,
"I felt your touch,"
May they also sense the love
That is deep within our hearts.

[Author unknown...But greatly appreciated!]

2. "Your work is to discover your world and then with all your heart give yourself to it."

"When pure sincerity forms within, it is outwardly realized in other people's hearts."
